Transformation Leaders Network

In the year of the UN-led Food Systems Summit, the TLN Partner Organizations worked on the re-launch of a next generation of the Transformation Leaders Network – drawing from the previous experience of the New Vision for Agriculture – to serve as a dynamic and agile community of systems leaders poised to accelerate the transformation towards a more nutritious, sustainable, and equitable food system. By empowering individual leaders through facilitation, coaching, and group problem solving, the TLN ultimately aims to unlock strong systems leadership networks and build systems leadership capacity to drive change. On 27-28 April 2021, TLN held a 2-day virtual workshop kicking off a series of activities to support the objectives of the Food Systems Summit and achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. The TLN Virtual Gathering brought together over 100 selected leaders across public, private, social sectors from 36 countries in Africa, Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

The Gathering initiated a new TLN blueprinting phase, confirming the central role of the TLN objectives and proving the energy and strength coming from an engaged peer-to-peer community. At the same time, the event validated the fundamental need of building and accelerating systems leadership capacity, supporting the TLN practitioners to face common challenges and drive transformational change throughout the food system.

Within the context of the activities leading up to the UN FSS, TLN could therefore act as a supporting vehicle to take forward the work of the Summit. The Network will contribute to carrying on with its agenda by providing space for developing multi-stakeholder partnerships and tools to build system leadership capacity.

The Transformation Leader Network’s mission is to empower individuals who play key roles within and beyond their own organizations in ways that benefit both those organizations and the broader systems in which they operate. They engage and inspire others, serve as champions of change, and provide and mobilize support for interactive leadership structures. The TLN members bring to the network their specific challenges and cases, receiving feedback and training to tackle them. By developing a dynamic process of action learning, TLN aims to generate a positive impact both on an individual and institutional level, ultimately reflecting on the concrete transformational initiatives that the members are called to lead on the field.
