Overview
The Pre-Summit event will serve as the preparatory meeting for the Food Systems Summit in September by consolidating all of the substantive work of the Summit into a common vision and setting a tone of bold ambition and commitment to action. Given the richness of ideas coming through the Summit’s workstreams and self-organizing constituency groups over the past year, the main program sessions will serve to surface their key content and enable the exchange and engagement across all stakeholders.
Affiliated parallel sessions will serve a key complementary role in bringing out additional valuable ideas and offering a platform to convene actors around the world to ensure more voices and ideas are heard, and more actors are thinking about how to take action in their own contexts.
Please note that the official Pre-Summit programme will run each day from 9:00am-7:30pm CEST, and the Secretariat has therefore structured three times for affiliated sessions in the morning, mid-day, and evening in order to avoid any overlap with the main sessions. Given the high volume of proposed sessions, the Secretariat has also sought to accommodate sessions in time zones to work for the organizers and avoid scheduling overly similar sessions in the same time frame.
Programme: Main Programme (Tentative) | Affiliated Sessions (Tentative)
Venue: Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, all affiliated parallel sessions will remain virtual in format. Organizers are requested to host their parallel session on any virtual platform they are most comfortable with. The Secretariat will include the link you provide to your session on the Pre-Summit’s virtual platform for all stakeholders to see and join as they see fit.
All organizers will receive a simple toolkit to promote a session, including social media guidance and Summit branded templates to present your session’s information, theme and speakers.
PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE RECEIPT OF THIS COMMUNICATION AND CONFIRM YOUR AGREEMENT TO HOST YOUR AFFILIATED PARALLEL SESSION BY NO LATER THAN CLOSE OF BUSINESS ON MONDAY, 5 JULY, 2021.
Any questions can be directed to the Secretariat at FoodSystemsSummit@un.org.
