This Summit aims to empower all people to leverage the role of food systems to drive our recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. As providers of up to 80% of the total freshwater used by humanity for domestic consumption, irrigation, industry, food and energy production, the role of mountain ecosystems in food systems should be acknowledged, and actions to protect the “water towers of the world” should be taken.
