Food Systems in Europe and Central Asia
The Food Systems in Europe and Central Asia, aims to become a regional community of practice around the issue of sustainability of food systems and to provide a multistakeholder dialogue feeding into the United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) Regional Dialogue, organized by the Issue Based Coalition (IBC) on Sustainable Food Systems in Europe and Central Asia.
The main objective is to gather key stakeholders contributing to food systems in the region of Europe and Central Asia and provide them with an inclusive and open digital space to share and exchange information, ideas, knowledge on key regional policy areas related to the food systems as well as identifying challenges, sharing best practice, and game-changing solutions, to improve food systems and ensure their sustainability for the future.
Stakeholders can engage in the platform as individuals or as representative of their institutions. The platform is open to Government representatives, Civil Society Organizations, private sector, academia, youth groups, women’s groups, farmer’s associations, other institutions and groups working on food systems, as well as interested consumers, activists and individuals.
As part of the global UNFSS initiatives, this community of practice can provide an opportunity to share ideas and information emanating from independent dialogues taking place in the region and the UNFSS Member States dialogues.
The major highlights will complement the UNFSS Regional Dialogue for Europe and Central Asia, on 25 May, 2021, 10:00am – 12:30pm CEST time.

In my opinion, one of the ways we can make the ECA food system safer and stronger is to make sure it’s accessible to those who need it most. Accessibility is a huge problem when it comes to this stuff in terms of geography, pricing, and other factors.
Sustainability is also usually treated lightly amongst people so it is also important to find a better way to reach out to them about environmental importance and engage them in it.
Our target focus group should be the youth, as they play an important role in dealing with climate importance. Some ways we can get them to be more involved is to find new and interesting ways to show them how important it really is– we can do this through things like social media, events, and local sponsorship.
