Education4Sustainable Schools 2030

Goal

Education4Sustainable Schools 2030 aims to contribute towards a fairer and more sustainable world through strengthening sustainable education in schools and furthering the achievement of the 17 SDGs.

Objective

To incorporate sustainable education and the 17 SDGs into policies, learning environments, educational resources, promoting the empowerment and mobilization of local level action.

How to use this resource

This resource forms part of our citizen science program to promote education, communication, participation and awareness of sustainability and ecosystem restoration in the following ways:

  • SDG1 – Promoting impact investment in nutritional lost crops of Africa – to be distributed to schools to replant, grow, and learn about the importance of these crops and the types of nutritional dishes that can be created from such crops.
  • SDG2 – Providing teacher resources to educate children on the issues of food security, nutrition, and agriculture with practical, hands-on lessons involving soil quality tests using PH Soil tests. Fish monitoring by testing and monitoring oxygen levels in lakes using our test kits.
  • SDG3/SDG6/SDG 13 – Educate children on the links between water quality, food, hygiene, and health. Proving water quality strips to monitor water quality through our citizen science program. Developing projects around how to purify water, teaching children how to build their own recycled water filter and eco-toilet.
  • SDG4 – The expansion of the Education4Sustainable Schools 2030 aims to reach children with inclusive nutritional interventions that increases their understanding of food and the importance of growing and eating nutritional food.
  • SDG5 and SDG 10 – Providing educational teaching resources and lesson plans on human and child rights, gender, poverty, and inequality with references to diet and nutrition.
  • SDG7/SDG 13 – Education on the links between energy, food, and water. Energy projects and competitions to stimulate understanding, solutions, and innovation.
  • SDG8, SDG 9, SDG 11, SDG 12 – By taking on different perspectives, students will look at not only the environmental impacts of food industries, but also the social impacts on equality, economic growth, and human rights for those that work within them.
  • SDG14, SDG 15 – Explore and understand the threats of plastic waste and pollution to our land oceans. Generate ideas of how-to better control litter. Link between litter in the ocean and seafood.
  • SDG16 – Teaching resources on the Declaration of Human Rights for food security.
  • SDG17 – Teaching resources to explore”
