The ‘Bega Circular Valley 2030’ (BCV 2030) aims to deliver a transformational high-impact regional development initiative with the pioneering vision to establish Bega Valley Shire (BVS) as the most circular regional economy in Australia that can be replicated by other regions globally.
It’s a holistic program developed by collaborating with local, national, and global stakeholders to mobilise innovative circularity solutions across the 5 streams of water, waste, renewable energy, food systems, and education. The program will build on and accelerate new and existing initiatives by embedding smart circular economy principles and skills.
Over the next 3 years, the program will implement the delivery of 15 flagships and 29 supporting circular projects to stimulate a regional circular marketplace and a vibrant ecosystem of diverse stakeholders, SMEs, technology innovators, researchers, academics, indigenous leaders, and social ventures, NGOs, government and investors.
BCV 2030 is anchored in the community in the form of a membership-based Cooperative that will co-convene the program and optimise community participation. With a leading practice impact evaluation framework in mind, to measure the success (at both program and project level) and enable a targeted focus of key circularity initiatives to create circular system change thinking and drive a 100% circular valley.
