“Cold storage is virtually non-existent in smallholder value chains in Sub Saharan Africa. This lack of storage facilities and the lack of good infrastructure causes post-harvest food losses. The high-over goal is to create a movement to increase and improve cold chain accessibility in rural areas in emerging markets, combined with viable and sustainable business cases, access to finance and proper investments. We propose an integrated value chain approach, working with the supply side (farmer organisations and cold chain providers) as well as the demand side (aggregators and off takers) and financial sector ensures long-term quality ánd quantity of stock. “
